It looks good, but make sure you've done a little deeper by Ryan Rodemoyer, I saw this computer at SAM'S CLUB (possibly when I bought it) and was completely besotted. This laptop offers an unbelievable value for the price. HP has brought to every case their "A" game to this model. There are some things you need * to know before buying this laptop. First, the model I bought a 500 GB hard drive announced this is true, but it is 2 x 250 GB hard drives. Not that big deal, but I can not believe it is not listed as such. Second, the notebook comes preloaded with a ton of trash and is highly integrated with Windows Live stuff. Messenger, Live Toolbar, etc. It comes with a trial version of Norton Internet Security and a trial version of Office 2007. My advice: Get off the computer ASAP Norton and install another antivirus product. Thirdly, no CD of the operating system come with the package. There is a partition of "recovery", which contains about 12 GB of stuff (not 100% sure what exactly there) know that when you set the computer that says, you must create a recovery disc. I went through to create the installation disks and here's the kicker - takes 21 CDs or 3 DVDs to create the recovery discs. Talk stupid. From now on, I deleted the partition and loaded the operating system Windows 7 Beta. The recognition of the driver is great on Windows 7 - both wired and wireless Ethernet drivers were installed my out-of-the-box. The appearance of this model is beautiful. The screen 17 "HD is amazing and the whole laptop has that elegant look and feel to it. The bronze color stands out. All in all, you can not beat the price of this laptop. For what is provided with a comparable model from another supplier would cost 600 to $ 700 more than what I bought for my ($ 898 + tax). Finally, it is only my opinion and should be treated as such. Please do yourself a favor and do not install XP on this laptop, this is too big to go back to XP. Aero looks good and this laptop should be able to run everything you throw at it. Even a clean install of Windows Vista should not cause any problems. While XP works well for most people, do not fight the change and trying to give Vista / 7 a fair chance. Hell, even try the new Ubuntu (I think 8.10), as it must look good in this too. 51 of 57 people found this review helpful. Beauty in bronze, but illegible keyboard! By Edmund H. Fernandes, I only got my very cool HP Pavilion dv7-1240US, but I can not see letters and numbers on the keyboard. The laptop is all brass, including the keyboard and the keyboard letters and numbers appear to be gray. I tried to move my reading lamp as close as possible to the laptop and yet I can not distinguish letters and numbers correctly. I have to keep moving around my head from different angles to see. I can not believe that HP would be a product with this obvious problem .. If only the letters and numbers were white bronze on this notebook would have received 5 stars! Anyone out there with this problem, and if so is there a solution but to return it? Everything else looks very good. EDIT! February 28, 2009 I returned it and bought the DV7-1150US, very similar features silver-gray. The keyboard is readable, black letters and numbers on silver-gray. Very nice. 28 of 31 people found the following review helpful. This is an incredible machine by R. Taylor got it at Best Buy for $ 700 and this is an excellent machine for the price. You get an HD display, integrated webcam and microphone, quiet keyboard that is perfect for an adult, a nice interface, a nice touch pad to its volume, play, mute, forward and backward to increase ... a 64-bit system with 4 GB of RAM can store 8 GB of RAM ... great. The mouse pad has a scroll function on the side of the art computer audio (speakers of this brand is very expensive), a dedicated.
